The festival

Stocktown 1998 was a comprehensive hip hop event held within the well-attended Fanclub festival in Lida, south of Stockholm. The event featured all four elements of hip hop culture: B-Boying, DJing, MCing, and graffiti. Stocktown 98 was organized within the framework of the Stockholm European Capital of Culture in Sweden.

The lineup

Performances by DJs such as Cut Chemist & DJ Nu-Mark (from Jurassic Five) and DJ Babu (of the Beat Junkies/Dilated Peoples) showcased turntablist skills previously almost unheard of at Swedish music festivals.
